love, light, and healing

Taking time today to reflect on the whirlwind this year has been. Our world has lost so much: beautiful souls, kindred spirits; but in some ways, it’s also gained consciousness — of community, friendship, family, and love. I wanted to share some lessons I’ve personally learned:

  • Being present. Always. Living and loving with intentionality and authenticity. Listening cautiously. Observing attentively. Investing in the people you care about. Solidifying existing connections, making room for others. There’s no shortage of love to go around.

  • Choose the company you keep wisely. Do not allow the softness of your own heart to cloud your judgment. Companionship is not measured in quantity — quality is everything. You are deserving of healthy, reciprocating relationships.

  • Humans have the capacity to empathize, deeply. We’ve seen proof of that this year, whether it was in the form of mutual aid or protesting for someone’s life. It’s essential to bridge the gaps, to not only want to be understood, but to understand each other.

  • Knowledge is limitless, and its pursuit is lifelong. Age is just a number — wisdom and creativity can strike at any point. Success is rarely linear. Trust in the process and your own timing. Allow yourself periodic moments of rest.

  • Disconnect. Reconvene with the Divine and the natural world. Our time on this earth is limited, uncertain. We plan and we plan, but God is the best of planners. Look for ease within every hardship. It’s there, no matter how fleeting. In the end, unwavering faith is all we have.

If you’re entering 2022 still feeling lost, still grieving, give yourself the time and space to heal. There is no hierarchy of pain — we all face different obstacles, but never minimize your own feelings.

Sending you all lots of love, light, and healing for the new year.
